Blue Protocol: Korean Distribution Rights

Greetings, Adventurers of Regnus!

Last year, it was announced that Smilegate is working on securing Korean distribution rights for Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol. To note, this information was exposed to a small group of people and was known a while ago. Based on the recent information of global expansion towards Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, this information only bolsters Bandai Namco’s potential strength towards their initiative of launching the game worldwide.

Smilegate Megaport has partnered with Bandai Namco to proceed with the service of BLUE PROTOCOL in Korea.

Source with Smilegate

Blue Protocol is an action MMORPG that is currently being developed by Project Sky Blue using Unreal Engine 4 which promises beautiful cel-shaded visuals. On April 2019, Bandai Namco revealed Blue Protocol for the first time and recruited 50,000 testers in Japan to conduct their testing phases.

Smilegate intends to strengthen their involvement in the gaming industry through expansion by both publishing and creating games. Currently, they offer major services globally with Lost Ark coming to both North America and Europe as of next year.

The information that was provided [in the year of 2020] regarding the Korean distribution rights states that the release date of Blue Protocol has not yet been confirmed, but it is highly likely that Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol service in Korea would most likely release in the second half of next year [2021] with Blue Protocol releasing in Japan during the year of [2020].

Note: The source was written in the year of [2020]. However, most likely due to the pandemic and other development related issues, Blue Protocol has not been released.

We are in the process of finalizing discussions with Bandai Namco on distribution rights in Korea.

Official from Smilegate

It is known that Smilegate has partnered up with Amazon Games for their own MMORPG Lost Ark. If Lost Ark can potentially bring in a vast amount of users to the western scene, there may be a possibility that Amazon Games could be considered a hub for publishing Asian MMORPGs.

No other details or comments were provided yet this year regarding Smilegate’s deal with Bandai Namco. We look forward to hearing more information.
